Frequently we forget about ourselves and what we want to do with our life as we spend so much time taking care of other people. Now is the time for you to take back your life. Here are 10 steps you can follow in taking charge of your life again.

#1. Produce a list of goals.

Get clear on what you really want for your life. Write them down in an agenda. Decide what actions you will need to follow in order to move toward your goals.

#2. Commit to your agenda. 

Every day, once you’ve decided what tasks will help you move toward these goals, make sure you complete them before helping others. Help yourself return to who you are meant to be. Others will appreciate this as they see your authenticity shine.

#3. Set boundaries with your support group. 

When you heed to your own agenda, you will likely need to set boundaries with the people in your life. This is important from the beginning to demonstrate how committed you are to self-improvement.

#4. Say “No” to whatever you want to. 

Respecting your true desires is liberating and you should never feel bad about it.

#5. Do something you’ve always yearned to do. 

Crossing that big one off your bucket list brings joy and empowerment to our daily lives.

#6. Seek equilibrium and balance. 

Which of these aspects of your life needs attention? social/family, spiritual/creative, career/health? Decide which one requires your focus and bring balance back to it again.

#7. Eat well and exercise daily. 

Take charge of your energy by treating your body well, always.

#8. Clear clutter.

Creating a tidy and beautiful physical environment positively affects our sense of internal order and makes space for the new ideas and items now on your agenda.

#9. Pursue completion of all things in life. 

Try not to leave unfinished tasks in your daily routine. Don’t allow things to remain unsaid or relationships in need of closure. Doing so tends to monopolize and distract our thoughts and deplete our energy.

#10. Get support/ work with a coach or mentor.

Get help processing uncomfortable feelings and planning those difficult conversations. Seek friendships with people who appreciate and support you as you take charge of your life.
